When it comes to 3d animation design there are many software options on the market. The key is finding a software that has an easy interface with all the necessary features to produce a great animation. A 3D animation software called Illusionmage has been getting a lot of press via the web. I was curious to see if it lived up to the hype, so I decide to test drive illusion mage. here’s what I found out.
My first initial test was to design a simple face character using Illusion mage. I started by picking a simple Sphere image. From there I began to append two more sphere images for eyeballs and use the carving tool feature to design a mouth and nose. Before you know I had a Face character ready to animate.
Of course the software offers a simpler way by importing a jpg file from your computer.
So here’s some key feature Illusion mage has that can help with your animations.
Cartoon Modeling – probably the best feature about cartoon modeling is the non linear feature, which basically means you can undo any changes an unlimited amount of times. You can also add audio to your characters and playback preview in real-time.
Video Game Creation – the software allows you to create and edit the look and feel of your game landscapes. The software also has a feature that allows you to ensure your animation aren’t stiff by adding a spring motion dynamic to them… awesome…
3d Shadowing Effect – users can add textures like wood, stone and liquid to there creations and add shadow effects from any angle.
What I Liked: Cartoon Modeling made creating tween motion to my design very easy and help the keep my character movement fluid instead of stiff.
What I didn’t Like: The software moving from different features is a bit overwhelming. Each feature like requires a opening a new window. I’d rather have each feature on the same window.
In closing compared to software like Maya, 3d Max and Lightwave, Illusionmage delivers without the costly price tag. It also has the basic features to create a a great animations.
